Ba’s birthday trip to Genesee Country Village & Museum

It seemed like a good idea in October.  We gave Ba a card letting her know we were going to take her to GCV&M for their “Preparing for the Holidays” winter event.

It was MAYBE 33 degrees…

And doesn’t everyone want to see pigs dunked and butchered for their birthday?

She was a good sport.  (Actually, she had a lot of fun.)

And we went to Cracker Barrel afterwards for a big meal.  (After stopping first at a town restaurant that literally closed when they saw us walk up, and then trying a little bar/deli/Italian place that served meals on those wimpy paper plates.)  We piled into and out of the car so many times we REALLY worked up an appetite!

Thanksgiving

So – I didn’t pull out the camera much.
But what I caught on camera were some things that make me smile.

Oh, snow

While the bigger girls have been enjoying the snow a great deal, Johanna is far less enthusiastic.
It took about 7 minutes to get her ready to go out.  She was back inside about 10 minutes later.

The return on investment is hardly worth the effort.
And I know I could technically insist on her staying outside.  But I wouldn’t do that.  See… I always hated being told to go outside.  I pretty much never liked being outside.  I still only like it if there is eating or socializing involved.  And even then I’m not wild about the whole thing.  Unless I am on a beach, or at an amusement park.  And I’d never do either of those in the snow.

;)

Prepping for Thanksgiving Day

Tabitha made us a sweet table-topper-gobbler-guy.

You don’t need a lot of snow…

To make a new friend.

Disciple of the Day

Each week a student in the 3 y.o. class gets to be the Disciple of the Day. They hold the flag, hold the Bible, and act as line leader to and from gym class.  It is a great honor.

It was Johanna’s turn.  ♥

Keeping busy

Katriel is busy learning all about her world.  She spends a lot of time in the “Duck Pond.”  (That is the large gated area of the living room.  I don’t have a picture, yet.)
When she’s not in the “Pond” she likes to take apart this cupboard.

DSC_5820

None of the other kids ever did this.  We had too few low cupboards in the other house for me to have a kid-safe cupboard.  And I never thought of it with Johanna.  Katriel found it one day and now she heads to it every chance she gets.  It has allowed Stewart and I to get English 8 done most days.  :)

Ready to wear

Hanny likes us to pick her clothes out the night before, which we are happy to do for her.
This morning when I went in her room – this is what I found.

That is not how I had laid them out!

She’s so cute!

snip snip

It was time.

When your arms aren’t long enough to reach the ends of your hair when you have it up over your head trying to get rollers in it is time to cut it off.

DSC_5815

I like long hair… but I get so tired of it.  I end up wearing it the same way over and over and over.  I am totally that person who can remember what/where/when something was done based on what my hair was like at that time.  I like variety.  :)

I haven’t had a bob since grade three. We’ll see if I like it. I’ve done short-short. And I’ve grown it through the middle stages. But haven’t tried the bob-thing. No highlights either. It’s been since quite a while since I’ve had them. We’ll see how long this lasts.

Johanna loves it.

Square dancing with our PCC LEAH group

There was a family dance night with our homeschool group.  Or as Johanna called it, “The Ball.”

I’m not convinced they are any clearer on the difference between a do-si-do and a promenade left…

But we had a lot of fun.

Marie and Tabitha kept Daddy’s dance card completely full.

More art class

I love doing art at home.

I pick art projects from www.artprojectsforkids.org and do them in whatever moments we can spare.
